Land Rover recently celebrated an important birthday – 50 years of the Range Rover. To mark the occasion, the manufacturer has released a limited-run special edition of the luxury SUV.
Restricted to 1,970 examples globally in a reference to the year the first example of the 4×4 rolled off the production line, the Range Rover Fifty features unique ‘script’ badging (created by Land Rover design chief Gerry McGovern) externally and throughout the cabin.
Unique 22-inch alloy wheel designs and ‘Auric Atlas’ black exterior trim accents are also present. Most examples will be specced with four regular exterior paint options – Carpathian Grey, Santorini Black, Rosello Red and Aruba.
However, an “extremely limited” number will be produced in new heritage colours taken from the original Range Rover’s palette: Bahama Gold, Davos White and Tuscan Blue.
The Range Rover Fifty can be ordered with a variety of petrol and diesel powertrains and in regular or long-wheelbase form. Prices have yet to be announced.
In the Indian market Land Rover currently offers the fourth-gen Range Rover in the Rs 1.97-4.09 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India) price range. The carmaker recently updated the powertrain on offer with the Range Rover in India. The 3.0-litre and 4.4-litre diesels, and the 5.0-litre petrol have all been dropped, with a new 3.0-litre in-line six cylinder performing duty in all versions of the Range Rover.
The company has even announced the prices for the all-new Defender SUV, which was originally slated to arrive in our market in the coming months but will most certainly be pushed back due to the coronavirus crisis. Moving forward, the company is planning to add electrified models to its India line-up as well.
