The BSVI compliant Hyundai Elantra uses a 1.5-litre U2 CRDI diesel engine developing 115 PS maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has today introduced the BSVI compliant diesel version of the Elantra sedan in the domestic market. As previously suspected, it gets a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi four-cylinder diesel engine and is paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Late last year, the South Korean auto major launched the facelifted version of the Elantra with evolutionary exterior updates and a brand new interior. Right from its debut, the Elantra has been retailed only with a petrol engine and now the addition of an oil-burner has certainly helped in expanding the range.
Speaking on the launch of the BSVI diesel variant of the Hyundai Elantra, SS Kim, MD & CEO,Hyundai Motor India Limited, said: “We are enhancing customer delight on ELANTRA with the addition of Fun to Drive & Powerful 1.5 l U2 CRDi Diesel BSVI Powertrains.” while providing improved value proposition for existing Petrol BSVI powertrain options as well on the executive sedan.

The prices for the 2020 Hyundai Elantra BSVI diesel starts at Rs. 18.70 lakh for the SX MT trim and it goes up to Rs. 20.65 lakh for the SX (O) AT. The BSVI petrol version of the Elantra is sold in four trims as it costs between Rs. 17.60 lakh and Rs. 19.55 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom New Delhi).
The design of the Hyundai Elantra is based on Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 philosophy, as the front gets hexagonal cascading grille, slender headlamps, sporty bumper with fog lamps in triangular pattern, wide air intake, sleek wraparound horizontal LED tail lamps, appealing character lines and wheel arches, and so on.
The BSVI diesel version uses a 1.5-litre engine capable of 115 PS at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of peak torque, as in the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, delivered between 1,500 and 2,750 rpm. The first connected D-segment sedan in India is equipped with BlueLink tech, wireless charging facility, LED quad projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights, chrome door handles with pocket light and front ventilated seats.

The diesel variant of the Hyundai Elantra can be booked online and any variant of the sedan can be ordered for home delivery through Click to Buy platform. The Elantra comes with three years of Hyundai Premium Assurance Package having three years/30,000 km complementary maintenance, three years RSA, and three years Hyundai BlueLink/Map subscription. The Wonder Warranty Options ensure three years/unlimited kms or four years/60,000 km or five years/50,000 km.
